ADOPTIONS are handled in various ways:
Grandparent, Stepparent, and Relative
Adoption
occur when a family member assumes the responsibility of becoming the
child’s parent when the biological parent is unable or unwilling
to assume that duty.
Independent Adoption occurs when a Birth Parent or
parents makes a decision to develop an adoption plan for their child. An
Adoptive Parent is either selected or chosen, after which
specific state requirements are to be met. Ultimately, the Adoptive
Parents become the legal parents of the child.
An Open
Adoption can be made whereby the Birth Parents receive information about the
child after
the adoption is finalized . Such services can be provided to both instate
families and out-of-state families.
International Adoption involves adopting a
child from another country. Mary Ann Scherer assists
prospective Adoptive Parents in gathering governmental information about specific countries and referrals for obtaining a child
internationally.
She assists in referrals for Dossier
Preparation and home
study evaluations for instate and out of state families. She also offers
Re-Adoption services to Florida families.
