CUSTODY ACTIONS are filed to assist in the proper appointing of a custodian when the parent feels the need, or when the parent requests assistance with the temporary or permanent custody of a child.

A Petition for Custody of a Minor by extended family members can be filed if you are caring for a child of a family member and that family member is unable or unwilling to care for their child.  This Petition can prevent the child from being placed into State care as a result of the actions of the parent.
